Reliability

My system is subject to the whims of a number of agencies, most notably the power company, my DSL provider, and, least predictable of all, me.

Security (mostly affects email access)

When you first go to one of the secured sites (i.e. if you visit a page and your browser starts popping up messages about how the site uses encryption), the best thing to do is accept the offered certificate as valid forever. Read about this in detail in the "SSL" section. (What "SSL" section, you say? Hey, I can only type so fast.)

SquirrelMail

If you use SquirrelMail, before you try to send mail, you must set up at least one identity. To do this, click on "Options", roughly in the upper middle section of the web page after you log in. Read more in the "Email" section.
